Rode out to Flushing Meadows / Corona Park last yesterday morning for the Korean harvest festival. (Eating in Translation wised me up to it. Thank you, EIT.) I stood in a line for about 10 minutes to get the kimchi-bulgogi beef hot dog. Confusing but delicious. I also got a mungbean pankcake with the scallions and stuff. Good but cold.

After that, I rode down into Maspeth and over to the studio. Didn't get any work done of course--no direction is apparent in the drawing--but I did read Carl Sagan's The Varieties of Scientific Experience on the roof.

First lines on paper. Eesh. Feels weird.

Weird weekend, hot and humid. Spent Saturday night in the studio stretching paper. Spend most of Sunday in the studio as well with a burger and beer in the early evening followed by a trip to the Beauty Bar for birthday party.

Teddy is swathed in gear for his trip to Australia.

Oh, boy. Summer's over. It's taken me almost a month to stretch this paper and move it to the drawing board. Anxious about starting up again, feeling a little squirm about sitting down and making something.

I'm considering keeping the drawings all one size, 44" x 24". It's kind of a widescreen format which is appropriate considering the number of movies I've watched in the free months of summer. The Ape Machine drawings were all over the place--I stretch the paper on old scraps of dry wall sitting in the studio and they're all of different sizes. I think the gallery referred to me as "psycho" in regards to my inconsistent formats.

Oh, boy.
