Indianapolis 03.26.11

More than any other drawing, I've left you, the viewer, behind. This is entirely my thing, my remembering fugue, filled with old poetic pleasure and half-forgotten rage. I won't even bother trying to tell you what's going on. Doesn't matter, really. Next, I want to make the city map of Chicago. Then I'll really go off because I remember everything from that time. After that, of course, is the City of Sociopaths (NYC). All of which I should accomplish by 2018 or so.

Indianapolis 03.25.11 (Marblefat and White Ochre Islands)

Okay. That's all for today.

Remember--two or three years ago--when I used to write a lot more on this blog? I wonder what happened. All of my words dried up.

Indianapolis 03.24.11

Started working in more color on the buildings today. Started small, started modest on Old Indianapolis. I'm not sure I like things so far--everything is too rainbow-y and God knows I've grown to hate (smothered) rainbow colors in the last year. I specifically picked out-of-the-tube colors so color matching for various buildings would be uniform-- and this bothers me. There is something hacky and amateurish about using color right out of the tube but I thought it might work here because the color in this case isn't meant to be expressive . . . it's just meant to convey factual information. Well, we'll see.

The river seems okay to me.

Indianapolis 03.23.11

I finished all of the parks and cemeteries within the wall of the Indianapolisuses.

Indianapolis 03.18.11

I thought I'd be painting by now. But each day I see more and more prep work and inking that I need to finish. So. It might be a bit before the color arrives.

Final Indy Color Study

Seriously, I'm done with the color studies. I just have to finish drawing the thing out and get to work. See you in forever.

Indianapolis 03.01.11

Okaaaay. Looks like the posts are down to about one a week here. I'm telling you, there is nothing interesting in the pencil stages of the drawing. However, I started inking it in. So that's something slightly more exciting. See you next week!
